The jacket you'll wear on repeat. BAGRU is a quilted jacket that manages to be both a serious piece of craft and an everyday essential – the kind of thing you throw on over everything and garner tonnes of admirers!

The blue is not just any blue. It's a shade Sa found and fell for at a fabric market in Delhi during her India visit this February, then hand-dyed to match the tone exactly.

Open it up and you'll a zingy orange check lining. But the real star is the exterior  covered in hand-sewn kantha embroidery worked to Sa's own original design.

Kantha is a centuries-old running-stitch technique originating in Bengal and Rajasthan, traditionally used to layer and quilt textiles into something new and beautiful. We've used it to create a motif pattern that's scattered across the entire jacket - front, back and sleeves - in multicoloured thread.

Because the quilted squares are sewn by hand, they will naturally vary slightly from jacket to jacket. The motif placement follows Sa's design and the overall distribution is always balanced but no two jackets will ever be exactly the same. You're not just buying a jacket. You're buying your jacket.

Why BAGRU is worth it:

  • Hand-dyed in a bespoke cobalt blue – a shade Sa sourced personally at a Delhi fabric market in February
  • Hand-sewn kantha embroidery to Sa's original design – an ancient Indian running-stitch craft worked across the full outer jacket in multicoloured thread
  • Genuinely individual – motif placement varies naturally from piece to piece, making each jacket subtly, beautifully unique
  • Vibrant orange check lining – a little surprise every time you put it on
  • Relaxed, easy silhouette with a neat stand collar and elasticated cuffs
  • Pockets – proper ones, naturally
  • Small-batch production – made in limited numbers, never repeated

How to wear BAGRU, all year round:

Spring & Summer – Over a simple white tee and wide-leg trousers. The blue and orange combination does all the work.

Autumn – Worn over the VITA dress or layered above a fine-knit jumper with straight-leg jeans and ankle boots. Effortless.

Winter – Don't underestimate it as a mid-layer. Worn under a longer wool overcoat, Bagru adds warmth, colour and a flash of that orange lining at the cuff. Exactly right.

This is a jacket with a story stitched into every inch of it. And it has pockets.

Hand-dyed cotton. Hand-sewn kantha embroidery to Sa's original design. Orange check lining. Designed by Cub & Pudding, London. Made with care in India.
