TEN QUESTIONS WITH INSPIRING WOMEN

Holly von Bock is the founder & director of Slow Love Knitwear

ONE | What have been your biggest career HURRAH moments so far?

Hmmmm. I think the daily feedback we get about our knitwear quality being the best on the market (my WHY) is a daily HURRAH. Also, coming from a job I didn't love to my absolutely dream is a constant HURRAH!

TWO | If you could give 3 pieces of advice to yourself ten years ago - what would you say?
1) Trust your gut. I try to and it serves me well. When I've ignored red flags, it always comes and bites me in the bum.
2) Grow up. I've grown up hugely over past ten years, sometimes for hard reasons but I really needed to put my big girl pants on a long time ago!
3) You can't please everyone, and it's ok to say no. I've actually always been pretty good with this, so I guess I would tell myself to keep it up. Also, don't take advice from anyone you wouldn't want to trade places with.

THREE | You’re granted 1 wish for the day – what would it be?
To read minds, I'd love to understand why people act a certain way and understand what motivates them.

FOUR | Which living person do you most admire?
My husband, for putting up with me 😬
All the women who work for me as they're all super humans.
Grace Beverley (founder of TALA & Shreddy) her biz nuggetts, general kick ass attitude to business and info on finance is very impressive.

FIVE | What's your most treasured possession?
As a materialistic possession, probably my vintage watch. Charlie bought it for me at Christmas 13x years ago (Aurora was 4x weeks old at the time, I was totally exhausted, as we also had Oscar as a toddler) it's just a completely timeless style and I wear it everyday.

SIX | What do you value most highly in friendship?
Honesty (I know that's a really obvious one) and just say saying things as they are. I hate it when people beat about the bush. Being sincere I guess as a sideline to this.

SEVEN | Where would you most like to live?
Where we are, in the Cotswolds, at this time in our life. Maybe the South of France once we retire............!

EIGHT | What's your biggest indulgence?
I have a really chocolately mocha every single morning. I'm sure its 1000s of calories but I just love it.

NINE | What does your dream scenario day look like?
Work day dream scenario: Unpacking samples when they arrive and they're all perfect, we all love them and no changes need to be made (Grace my designer - and sister - will be lolling). We tie up any meetings quickly and efficiently, then pop off for team building late lunch.

Home day dream scenario: Pretty much every Sunday. If you asked me this question 15 years ago maybe it would be escaping for a day in London, or something like that. But now it's an easy Sunday, seeing family, a big family lunch and then flopping on the sofa in front of the fire.

TEN | What’s your favourite biscuit?
I'm actually not a huge biscuit fan...........if I HAD to choose, white chocolate chip and lemon cookies? Oh, or these Italian almond little biscuits, with a cherry in the middle. I don't know what they're called...!

TEN QUESTIONS WITH INSPIRING WOMEN

Twenty years ago, when I was a very lowly-feeling editorial assistant, I dreamed of - but couldn't imagine - writing for the Guardian Saturday and Observer magazines. In recent years, I've had cover stories in both, which still blows my mind.
